Mesa County Fair Wine Competition in conjunction with the Mesa County Fair 2017!
The Mesa County Fair Wine Competition is the annual prestigious wine competition of Western Colorado. The wine competition returns on Saturday, June 24 to be held at the beautiful downtown Fairfield Inn. Wineries from across the state are invited to participate and proudly compete with the Best of the Best of Colorado. Pre-registration is required.
Any wine made with at least 75% of the ingredients grown in Mesa County and available for retail sale is qualified to enter the professional wine competition. Entry fee is $8 per bottle for up to four entries and $5 for per bottle for 6 or more entries (two bottles of wine is required for each entry). Vintners can try their hand in the competition by entering as many types of wines as desired which may include the reds, white, rosé, fortified, fruit honey/meads and the different from standard wines made with grapes mixed with non-grape or wine with additives such as flavorings or spices. Judging is done on a blind tasting of five judges; gold, silver and bronze custom medals will be awarded.
The award-winning wines will be proudly displayed in the Community Building Open Class area of the Mesa County Fair during the week of July 25-29, 2017.
For the amateur wine maker, we have something for you too. Non-professional winemakers can submit entries through the Open Class Exhibits at the Mesa County Fair. Details can be found in the Exhibitor’s Open Class Guide online or at the Mesa County Fairgrounds Office located at 2785 Highway 50 (on Orchard Mesa). Tickets for the annual Wine Tasting Event at the Mesa County Fair will be available online at www.monumentalevents.com Tickets for the event include the general admission entry into the fair.
This “tasteful” event features wines from Mesa County and beyond in Colorado. Cruising Cuisine Food Faire will be available in the center park of the Fairgrounds Complex on Thursday, July 27th from 6pm-8pm. This is a must do event, to experience the delicate hors d’oeuvres prepared by Cowboy & the Rose served in an open air experience in the heart of the County Fair while enjoying some of the finest wines our state has to offer.
