Mesa County Landfill Recycle Junkies July 24th – 28th

“Wear Your Waste on Your Waist!

The Mesa County Landfill is prepared to encourage you to recycle with a FREE bag of compost

Can you imagine what it would be like to wear your trash?

No, it’s not the latest fashion trend. It’s the latest movement to promote recycling!

In ’30 Days of Wearing my Trash’, Rob Greenfield does just that and explains,

The average American creates 4.5 pounds of trash per day but most people never think twice about the trash they make. Once it’s in the garbage can, it’s out of sight, out of mind. Rob Greenfield wanted to create a visual that would help people understand just how much trash they create and inspire them to make positive changes. So for 30 days, he lived just like the average American and he wore every piece of trash he created. 4.5 pounds a day really adds up! This is what it looked like.

The Mesa County Landfill will be on site from 3 pm to 5pm in the Gazebo Area with a FREE bag of compost, while supplies last, for folks that participate in their hands-on activity (which is more of a whole body experience!

“Wear Your Waste on Your Waist!

In other words, participants get to see how much waste a person generates to the landfill each day, each week, and every two weeks waste that could potentially be recycled. An eye-opening experience that is sure to leave participants with a new found knowledge and understanding of recycling.

I personally have cut back by one LARGE City Trash Can a week by recycling locally, I definitely encourage a visit to this activity, PLUS everyone can use a FREE bag of compost! If not, send it my way! My garden is popping with Mesa Magic!
